Position Scope

Responsible for assisting in mechanical/tooling designs and modifications to standard and new equipment related to paper forming. Technical assistance in trouble shooting the process for paper forming.

Quality System Responsibility

Irrespective of other responsibilities, have the freedom and authority to initiate action to prevent product non-conformity, identify and record quality problems, recommend solutions, verify implementation, and control further process until the deficiency has been corrected.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • • Read and interpret work orders and specifications.
  • • Maintain departmental records and files.
  • • Provide assistance to Marketing and Manufacturing departments as specified by supervisor.
  • • Complete all project tasks within assigned schedule and allotted hours.
  • • Provide input into job estimates as required.
  • • Provide assistance with necessary concept and layout drawings to ensure design meets accepted engineering standards and project requirements.
  • • Support Production crews to help solve problems through Process and Design.
  • • Maintain the process and creation of research & development.
  • • Complete research and development on new products as required.
  • • Research requirements needed to meet environmental regulations.
  • • Complete research needed for processing and forming paper, (i.e., raw materials, chemistry, and extensibility of paper related to forming).
  • • Assist is market sizing for new products.
  • • Develop testing plans and data tables for analyzing with engineering staff.
  • • Develop Paper Machinery, Paper Tooling, and Technical Process standards for the paper product line.
  • • Make appropriate calculations, research performance standards, and investigate material and component selection and types of construction to ensure design specifications are met.
  • • Assist in the design of various sections within the equipment and tooling to meet required specifications.
  • • Assist other engineering disciplines Prepare bills of material and other paperwork per internal standards.
  • • Attend and participate in design reviews for evaluation of work order requirements to design, and cost implications.
  • • Assist other engineering disciplines in drawing changes in accordance with ECO procedure.
  • • Assist in checking drawings and bills of materials as relates to assigned projects.
  • • Assist in representing the design team in customer and final design reviews as required.
  • • Ensure design considerations, concepts and calculations are documented and filed
  • • Direct various design activities on assigned projects.
  • • Review with design team to ensure quality and internal design practices are being met.
  • • Foster good Company/employee relations through motivation and good work habits.
  • • Perform other related duties as may be required.
  • • Maintain good housekeeping in work area.
  • • Follow all applicable safety procedures and policies as outlined by BMG.
Education/Required Qualifications
  • • Bachelor’s Degree in Paper Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • • Work knowledge of Raw materials, Chemistry and Environmental technology
  • • Basic working knowledge of trigonometry and geometry.
  • • Knowledge of 3D CAD software and analysis tools
  • • Impeccable attention to detail
  • • Positive team-oriented attitude
  • • Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
  • • Excellent written and oral communication skills on a technical level
  • • Can work independently with little or no supervision
  • • Able to mentor and coach team members
